Belarus’ FM: Poland showed normal pragmatism by opening checkpoints

Poland has demonstrated normal pragmatism by opening checkpoints – as stated by Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, BelTA reports

When asked about the reaction of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to the opening of checkpoints by Poland, Mr. Ryzhenkov stressed, “It is good that they [Polish authorities] have demonstrated such consistency in their ideas. It is very important when politicians listen to the opinion of their people and fulfil what they promise.”

The Foreign Minister added that the opening of checkpoints is important for the restoration of normal relations between the two countries, “Relations between ordinary people and business representatives are always in the lead, and politicians are behind them [with their decisions]. That's why the atmosphere and background are quite positive.”

According to Mr. Ryzhenkov, Poland's decision to open checkpoints has demonstrated ‘normal, tough pragmatism’.
