Belarus’ FM on Baltic States’ policy to create ‘iron curtain’ on border with Belarus
Latvia has introduced filter questionnaires for those arriving from the CIS member states, like a medieval quarantine for ‘undesirable elements’ – as noted by Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, sb.by reports
“Estonia has declared ‘electoral apartheid’, depriving Belarusians and Russians of the right to vote in municipal elections – as if the civil status is measured by the residence registration in the passport,” the Foreign Ministry’s press service said.
“These measures, covered with rhetoric about security, are yet another example of dividing people along national lines. We know from history what it leads to,” the Foreign Ministry said. “While the Baltic States are hiding behind the ‘iron curtain’, Belarus has opened visa-free travel for the EU by the decision of President Aleksandr Lukashenko. We are not afraid of guests: come for 30 days ‘to study the country, build a business, and have a holiday’.”
“We also remind Belarusians: you have your own land, your own home, your own Motherland, where you will be provided with the whole range of rights and opportunities. Vote with your feet!” the Foreign Ministry emphasised.
