Belarus’ exports to Uzbekistan rising

From January-August 2021, the volume of trade turnover between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan reached $187.1m, rising 26.2 percent against the same period last year – as informed by the Belarusian Embassy in Tashkent

$155.9m (29.3 percent more than in the first eight months of 2020) of Belarusian goods were exported, while $31.2m (12.9 percent) of Uzbek goods were imported. The foreign trade balance was positive to make $124.7m.

As reported, in January-August, Belarus increased exports of diagnostic reagents (7.3-fold), washing machines (7.2-fold), cellulose (5.8-fold), synthetic yarns (3.9-fold), cosmetics (3.7-fold), liquid pumps (2.6-fold), refrigerators (2.5-fold), wallpaper (2.3-fold), wood-fibre boards (2.1-fold) to Uzbekistan.

Exports of agricultural products increased by 11.8 percent to reach $52.7m. Most sales accounted for meat and meat products, cheeses, butter, ready-made food products from flour, cereals and starch.

Supplies of finished food products with high added value increased as well. These primarily included ice cream (31-fold), canned meat (18.5-fold), whole milk products (3.4-fold), water, including mineral and carbonated, and canned fish.

The Embassy of Belarus added that deliveries of textile clothing, chipboard boards, sewing machines, devices for testing mechanical properties of materials have been launched for the first time this year.

Belarus traditionally buys cotton yarn and knitwear, fresh and canned fruit and vegetable products in Uzbekistan. This year, sales of Uzbek canned fruits, molybdenum, tungsten, sulphates, apricots and cherries, watermelons and melons to Belarus have increased.

Medicines, juices and peanuts are now also imported by Belarus from Uzbekistan.
