During the meeting with Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Gusakov, the parties discussed the current state of interaction between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Cuban scientific organisations in the field of medical sciences and biotechnology, as well as ways to develop collaboration. Genetics, virology, the use of stem cells, ‘smart systems’ in healthcare, and drug synthesis have been identified as the most promising areas for the near future.

An agreement was reached on the development of a roadmap for co-operation and the joint participation of specialists from Belarus and Cuba in the forthcoming competition of Belarusian-Cuban projects through the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.
