Belarus considers providing second free IVF treatment starting in 2026

Starting next year, Belarus may provide second free IVF (in vitro fertilisation) treatment — as stated by Dmitry Lazar, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate — Head of the Medical Aid to Mothers and Babies Section of Belarus’ Healthcare Ministry, BelTA reports

According to the Healthcare Ministry’s representative, state-funded IVF is a highly sought-after support measure, “Providing a second IVF treatment free of charge is currently being considered. I believe it will be possible next year, in 2026. Changes to the legislation are currently underway, as well as the estimation of financial costs. Once these processes are complete, the procedure will be introduced.”

Dmitry Lazar expressed his confidence that the second IVF treatment will be in high demand, “The first free IVF treatment results in pregnancy in about 40 percent of cases. But there are still 60 percent of women who don’t get pregnant. That is why they will apply for a second treatment.”
