Belarus, China withstood tests of rapidly changing international situation, Ambassador asserts

The China-Belarus relations have withstood tests of the rapidly changing international situation – as stressed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus, Xie Xiaoyun, BelTA reports

During the Three Decades of Belarusian-Chinese Relations and Creation of Community of Common Destiny for All Mankind international scientific and practical conference held today, the diplomat noted, “In a week, we will celebrate an important historical moment: the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus. It is a common holiday for the peoples of our two countries. Two days ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko had a successful telephone conversation. They highly appreciated the achievements of bilateral relations over the past 30 years, while outlining future directions of the two states’ development. Taking this opportunity, on behalf of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus and myself, I would like to express congratulations on the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations."

"Amid the intertwining of unprecedented changes in the world over a century and the COVID-19 epidemic, jointly with our Belarusian friends we have passed an important path towards to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. During this time, the China-Belarus relations have withstood tests of the rapidly changing international situation, preserved vitality and energy and achieved major results of co-operation in various fields. Profound changes have taken place in the world community. We now feel better than ever in history that humanity is a single whole and that destinies of all peoples are intertwined and interconnected," Xie Xiaoyun said.

The diplomat believes that, over the past thirty years, the China-Belarus relations have demonstrated great vitality. "China and Belarus have become truly close brothers, mutually beneficial partners and good friends who maintain constant communication," he said, adding, “Actually, this has become possible due to the fact that development of relations between the two countries meets their peoples’ fundamental interests and long-term needs in stability and development, while also corresponding to the general trends of peace and development around the world."

Xie Xiaoyun also focused on achievements of the China-Belarus relations. “Over the past 30 years, political relations between China and Belarus have been continuously making new breakthroughs. China was among the first to recognise Belarus’ independence and establish diplomatic relations with it. The China-Belarus relations have reached their new level thrice: from friendly relations of co-operation to relations of comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as up to relations of trusting comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial co-operation. Political mutual trust is continuously strengthening between our two countries, and frequent visits at the highest level are maintained,” he stressed.

The Ambassador noted that the two countries had created perfect collaboration mechanisms, including the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Co-operation. They also closely liaise in international and regional affairs. "The Chinese side has always firmly supported the Belarusian side in protecting its state sovereignty and national dignity, while opposing interference by external forces in Belarus’ internal affairs and unjustified unilateral sanctions against Belarus. It respects the path of development chosen by Belarusians – taking into account the conditions and reality of their country. The Belarusian side, in turn, provides firm support to the Chinese side on the issues related to China's fundamental interests, including those related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong," Xie Xiaoyun said.
