Belarus, China interested in completing negotiations on service-investment agreement by late 2023

Regular inter-sessional consultations on the draft agreement on trade in services and investment between Belarus and China were held in an online format on June 1st, and experts from the Economy Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Interior Ministry took part from the Belarusian side

As reported by Belarus’ Economy Ministry, the participants exchanged positions on the remaining uncoordinated issues on the text of the investment chapter, as well as comments on the updated lists of obligations on access to the investment market, taking into account the continuing mutual requests.

According to the chief negotiator of the Chinese side, Deputy Director General of the WTO Department at the Ministry of Commerce Chen Yusong, the successful completion of the negotiations will ensure increased stability and certainty of the business environment. This, in turn, will entail an increase in mutual trade between the parties, will allow to increase the volume of production and direct investment.

The 7th round of talks on the agreement will be held in July this year in the Belarusian capital. It is planned to complete the negotiations by the end of this year.
