“Observers are getting their accreditations. Over 70 have already been approved. We are starting to get information from our colleagues abroad, not only in the CIS, but from heads of electoral bodies we interact with in the context of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB). We already got information from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. They sent their own group of international observers co-ordinated by Konstantin Kosachev. We have met and interacted with him at any number of elections, acted as observers in all corners of the ex-USSR space, that’s why his expert opinion is so important to us,” said Mr. Karpenko.

CIS Secretary General, Head of the CIS observer mission at the Belarusian Presidential election Sergei Lebedev, in turn, added that he’s happy to welcome the CIS mission.

“We are going to provide everything the mission might need for its operations and support it in every area. All our government bodies that have to do with the election, including the CEC, the Interior Ministry, local executive and regulatory authorities, are going to provide the full range of support to make the mission’s work and observations as smooth as possible. We are ready for any interactions,” he stated
