Belarus and Uzbekistan signed agreement on co-operation in nuclear and radiation safety

An agreement on co-operation in industrial, nuclear and radiation safety during the use of nuclear energy was signed by the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus and the State Committee of Industrial Safety of Uzbekistan – as sb.by correspondent was informed at the Belarusian Embassy in Tashkent

“The agreement establishes a legal framework for interaction in such areas as the development of a regulatory framework in the field of industrial, nuclear and radiation safety, the organisation of accounting and control over nuclear materials, radioactive substances and waste, ensuring the physical protection of nuclear facilities, safety regulation when handling them, including their transportation and safe storage,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission told the details.

The document also touches upon the issues of ensuring emergency preparedness and emergency response, improving the competencies of employees of regulatory bodies in the field of ensuring nuclear and radiation safety.
