Belarus and Russia reaffirmed unity of positions on UN role in modern context

On March 30th, Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Ambrazevich paid a working visit to Moscow and met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Vershinin, and the Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Co-operation (Rossotrudnichestvo), Evgeny Primakov – as sb.by was reported in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service

During the meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry, the strategic unity of the positions of Belarus and Russia on the place and role of the UN in the modern context was confirmed. The issues of joint counteraction to unfriendly initiatives against Belarus and Russia within the framework of international organisations were discussed. An agreement was reached on improving the mechanisms for operational coordination of the work of the two states’ foreign missions on this issue. Moreover, the prospects for the implementation of a range of Russian-funded international technical aid projects for Belarus’ sustainable development through the UN were considered.

During the meeting in Rossotrudnichestvo, the two sides discussed the possibilities of intensifying the efforts of the two countries’ governments in order to promote common approaches to historical events, topical issues of our time, as well as to the values that traditionally unite the Belarusian and Russian peoples among compatriots living abroad.

Ways to intensify cultural and educational exchange, as well as issues of providing assistance to refugees from Ukraine with the involvement of Rossotrudnichestvo’s potential were also tackled.
