Ambassador of Belarus to Serbia Sergei Malinovsky attended the opening of Genocide of the Slavic Peoples in the 20th Century international academic conference, organised by the Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade, sb.by reports citing the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service
The symposium was attended by Serbia’s National Assembly Deputy Chairman Jovan Janjic, Ambassador of Russia to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, researchers and experts from 14 European countries. In his address to symposium participants, the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission noted that in the context of increasing attempts to rewrite history, whitewash and revive Nazism, holding such conferences is becoming increasingly important.
The attention of the participants was focused on the ongoing investigation by the Belarusian General Prosecutor's Office into the criminal case of genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War by Nazi invaders, which revealed an even greater scale of Nazi cruelties than had been previously known.
The conference included a screening of the Death Camps and Burnt Villages documentary duology, filmed by the Belarusfilm National Film Studio based on the investigation materials.
