In January, the organising committee scrapped the sale of tickets because of the situation with the coronavirus to distribute them among certain groups of people.

The organising committee explained noted that the spectators will also include people living outside the ‘closed loop’, where all participants of the Olympics live. They will contribute to about half of all seats.

“The invited spectators will be drawn from international friends residing in China’s mainland, members of diplomatic missions and marketing partners, school children, local residents, and winter sports enthusiasts,” said Yang Shuan.
