Bashkortostan implementing project on reproduction of bison herd with Belarus’ assistance

Bashkortostan continues to implement a scientific project on reproduction of the bison herd – as noted by Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) Radiy Khabirov after his today’s meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko

The guest, in particular, emphasised, “We’ve started a scientific ecological project to reproduce a herd of bison in Bashkortostan. We acquired one herd in 2018. Now we already have 23 of them [bison], and five calves have appeared. This is a landmark, more of an emotional project of friendship and co-operation.”

Radiy Khabirov mentioned the development of tourism among other areas of humanitarian co-operation, “We’re very keen to open up Belarus’ tourist opportunities for the residents of our republic. We have a programme – The Bashkir-Belarusian Longevity. Tourism – according to which we send our veterans to Belarus for recreation and subsidise the cost of flights. Over three years, more than 3,000 of our veterans have already travelled here. Of course, we would be glad if Belarusians would come to us, too.”
