Baltic States and Poland engaged in vile geopolitical business, political expert asserts

The sanctions imposed against Belaruskali have not produced the result desired by the West. Moreover, they even have an opposite effect, and Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis confirmed this personally. The official noted that the sanctions had not affected the financial state of the Belarusian fertiliser producer but – on the contrary – provoked an increase in prices of its products, thus boosting revenues. Evidently, the sanctions policy is disastrous for the states which follow it. Nevertheless, they will continue to follow the trend, believes Aleksei Dzermant.

In his talk with Alfa Radio, the political expert noted, “They will continue trying to block the transit of potash fertilisers to us. We already understand that we won’t get anywhere with this Lithuanian Government. I think that suppliers of our products already have other supply chains and, possibly, routes. All their sanctions can be circumvented but what will this affect? This will increase the costs of transporting potash fertilisers and their prices, while reducing the revenues of Lithuanian Railways if we shift our transit to other ports and states. That's all. I do not understand how Lithuania can benefit as a result.”

According to Mr. Dzermant, Brussels is in no hurry to financially support Lithuania. Moreover, the West does not have much free money. Lithuania has not come up with any other way to earn money. It is simply playing on an aggressive foreign policy directed not only against its neighbours but also against China. "Aggressive insanity is their product," the political expert stressed.

“They are actually not democrats. The worldview of the Baltic elites, part of the East Slavic states is extremely caste and chauvinistic. Chauvinism, hatred of Belarus, Russia and our space are being communicated outwardly. They are acting through hatred and revanchism, attempts to grab something, to take away our resources and our people, to conquer their souls with the vilest Jesuit methods. Meanwhile, they are cultivating a rigid hierarchy inside – topped by a conservative ultranationalist elite and obscurant-ideologists who are sharing their own states and quarrelling with their neighbours. At the same time, a regime of strict suppression of dissent is observed there. Bosses in the EU and Washington look favourably at what is happening since they need tame ‘pug dogs’ that can be used in a dirty game. The West is trying to break Belarus with their hands, doing nasty things on the border. They are allowed to do what all supporters of the true European humanistic tradition protest against. This is what Europe seems to stand on: humanism, universal values, respect for minorities and democratic choice, taking into account the opinions of all. None of this has existed in the Baltic States or Poland for a long time. However, at the same time, they are trading their aggression – also getting money to have a good life and being engaged in vile geopolitical business,” Mr. Dzermant stated.
