Armoured BTR-82A vehicles already in Minsk

The first batch of BTR-82A wheeled armoured infantry fighting vehicles produced at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant JSC has arrived at the Ozerishche railway station in Minsk – as reported by the Defence Ministry’s Telegram channel

As informed, the main part of these new armoured vehicles will enter service with the 120th separate mechanised brigade. Several vehicles will go to the 72nd Guards Joint Training Centre and the Military Academy of Belarus.

“Rearmament is taking place as planned to replace tracked armoured vehicles of mechanised brigades with wheeled vehicles,” the Ministry said.

The newly arrived BTR-82A vehicles are equipped with Belarus-made communications equipment of AGAT-System JSC and sights of Peleng JSC.

In addition, two BREM-K repair and recovery vehicles on the BTR–80 chassis have arrived in Belarus.

The second batch of armoured vehicles from the BTR-82A battalion set is expected in November this year.

The BTR-82A is the latest Russian model of wheeled armoured vehicles taken into service by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2013. It replaced the Soviet BTR-80. Armoured vehicles of this model are also used by armies of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
