Any war has its political-economic component, expert asserts

Political analyst Aleksandr Shpakovsky drew attention to this aspect during his talk with ONT TV channel. This is how the expert commented on the war, including the sanctions one, that the collective West launched against Russia against the backdrop of a special military operation in Ukraine.

“Any war has its political-economic component. One aspect of this war is a radical reorientation of Russian export flows from West to East. For example, the trade turnover between Russia and China has increased by 25 percent since the beginning of the year and exceeded $50bn. At the same time, the Russian Federation, and this is important, boasts a positive trade balance with China, which happens not so often. Meanwhile, the United States set a record for oil exports to the EU countries since 2016, when the embargo on the supply of ‘black gold’ was lifted: this is more than 50 million barrels of oil,” explained Mr. Shpakovsky.

Moreover, according to the political scientist, the shares of the US industrial, oil refining and oil producing complex are also growing.

“According to the calculations of the Stockholm Institute, which assesses the military potential of various countries and the arms market, humanity’s spending on weapons has exceeded $2.1 trillion – an absolute record. The United States accounts for 37 percent of the world arms market,” added the political expert.
