Anti-Belarusian sanctions do not benefit the EU
This opinion was shared by German Bundestag deputy Waldemar Gerdt, from the Alternative for Germany party, in his talk to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA reports
"If we look at this pragmatically, even from our own political doctrine, what we are doing now with Belarus is not beneficial for us in any case. We are one civilisation, and we share a single genetic code. However, if we continue to behave like this, then our brothers, our neighbours will work with China. We will then become an impoverished province which nobody will need. Why are you doing this? Who benefits from this?" Mr. Gerdt emphasised.
According to the German, anti-Belarusian sanctions do not benefit the European Union. "Our oversees friends derive advantages of the situation since they wish to create hotbeds of tension on the European continent. I am convinced that our new chancellor will not have enough levers of influence to say, “Listen, leave this country in peace. Let it develop as it wishes.” Why are we meddling again? We need Belarusian fertilisers, we need this contact, we want to trade with the country. Why can't we do this with our neighbour? Just because you decided that the system there is worse than the one you have? Look at your elections in turn. You have completely made a fool of yourself," the Bundestag deputy stated.
