Anastasiya Prokopenko on international standard swimming pool in Minsk: such gifts are pride for Belarus

An international standard swimming pool built with the technical and economic aid from China has been opened in Minsk, with the solemn ceremony attended by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan, 21-time Paralympic swimming champion Ihar Boki and Olympic bronze medallist, two-time world champion in modern pentathlon Anastasiya Prokopenko. On behalf of the sports community and the Belarusian people, Anastasiya thanked Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping for such a wonderful gift.

“Thanks to your personal agreements, your wise and peace-loving policy, your friendly and close relations with China over the years, our country now boasts one of the world’s most high-tech swimming complexes. Such gifts are a pride for Belarus,” the athlete said.

“Aleksandr Grigorievich, you are the most athletic President! No one cares about the sports of his country as you do. There is a unique sports infrastructure in Belarus. This swimming pool will become the pearl of our capital and a place of attraction for everyone who wants to join water sports and modern pentathlon. And we promise that this sports facility will produce champions who will glorify our country,” Ms. Prokopenko noted, addressing the Head of State.
