The 28th international scientific conference of young scientists – Youth in Science – 2.0'21 – has launched in Minsk gathering scientists from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, as well as heads of the Councils of Young Scientists.

As stated by the Chief Scientific Secretary, the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences, Andrei Ivanets, our country is ranked 28th among over 150 states in terms of science and innovation development. “This means that modern young people have a place to come. Scientific schools able to give new knowledge and a start in life – which is called Science – are now available,” he stressed.

According to Mr. Ivanets, a third of the NAS’ staff are young scientists under the age of 35. These are undergraduates, postgraduates, candidates of science. “In this regard, we do a lot at the Academy. Traditionally, since 2019, the 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus contest is organised, with very high requirements imposed on its participants. All conditions are then created for the winners to become centres of growth for new youth research groups which later transform into separate laboratories and new scientific directions.”

The conference is traditionally viewed as a major youth scientific event in Belarus and a prestigious platform for project presentation of talented young people from the CIS and beyond.
