Ambassador: trade turnover between Belarus and Russia’s Orel Region increased by third in 2024, with exports up 45%

Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik has made a working trip to Russia’s Orel Region. During his talks with the governor of the region, Andrei Klychkov, the diplomat noted the high growth rate of mutual trade between our country and this Russian region.

The volume of trade between Belarus and the Orel Region has more than doubled over the past four years. A particularly high rate of co-operation was recorded in 2024, Aleksandr Rogozhnik noted at his meeting with Governor Andrei Klychkov.

“I do not remember a region with which the trade turnover increased by 30 percent last year, and our exports grew by more than 45 percent. Moreover, this embraces all spheres of life, from industry to agriculture. You visited Belarus three times last year, which is probably why the results are so good,” the Belarusian Ambassador addressed the Russian governor.

The diplomat stated that the main directions of the development of co-operation for the near future are determined by a range of national projects of Russia, the implementation of which started in 2025.

“These are the 19 national projects announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin,” the Ambassador said. “Our task is to work out all the areas in which our country can be useful for the Russian Federation and is ready to lend a shoulder in their implementation.”

Mr. Rogozhnik noted that he had already discussed with partners from the Orel Region a number of potential topics for further liaisons. He named construction, the machine building industry, microelectronics and the supply of Belarusian food products as priority areas of co-operation.
