Ambassador on prospect of creating ten-year Belarus-Russia aircraft construction programme
During a meeting with Governor of Russia’s Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev, Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik discussed the prospect of developing a Belarusian-Russian aircraft construction programme
During face-to-face talks at the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow, Aleksandr Rogozhnik and Igor Kobzev touched upon the whole range of relations between Belarus and the Russian region. Taking into account the Irkutsk Region’s competences in the aviation industry, the parties discussed the prospect of developing a large-scale aviation programme.
“I hope it will be a joint interstate programme in the field of aircraft construction until 2035, which will cover not only the Osvey project [joint Belarusian-Russian development of a 19-seat turboprop aircraft]. Today we are discussing this issue with the United Aircraft Corporation of Russia and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade,” the Ambassador said.
He said that at the moment the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407 and the 558th Aviation Repair Plant have reached the stage of concluding co-operation agreements with Russian partners. The Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant also has co-operation with Russians on its agenda. Specifying the possible ten-year joint programme, the Belarusian Ambassador to Russia outlined its likely content.
“Today we are discussing the issue of which product range to manufacture in our country in order to complement each other rather than to compete [with Russian partners]. This is a very large layer of components: everything that concerns both mechanics and hardware. In particular, these are the competences that our Horizont Holding is famous for,” the diplomat concluded.
