Zhang Wenchuan arrived in Belarus last autumn. Prior to that, he served in the diplomatic missions of China in Moscow and Tashkent and visited Belarus twenty years ago. “After returning to Belarus, I saw first-hand that, under the leadership of President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the country's economy and society is developing rapidly, the people’s well-being is growing, and the feeling of happiness and satisfaction is intensifying,” the diplomat shared his impressions, adding that Belarusians’ sense of national pride and patriotism is also getting stronger.

“At the same time, I feel that the friendship between China and Belarus is becoming really strong. It is already not uncommon to meet people in streets who greet each other in Chinese, and even street performers may impromptu sing the Chinese national anthem,” the diplomat said.

Zhang Wenchuan stressed that an increasing number of Belarusians want to learn Chinese, and the language is taught in schools and universities, “According to incomplete statistics, Chinese language courses are available in more than 160 primary and secondary schools in Belarus, as well as in more than ten universities. Currently, there are seven institutes and 2 Confucius classes in Belarus, which play an important role in the development of high-quality teaching of the Chinese language and contribute to the peoples’ rapprochement.”

The diplomat added that highly professional specialists who speak Chinese and understand the national peculiarities of China will enjoy even greater demand in the future.
