“We need to convert favourable political capital, the favourable atmosphere of political relations into the economic sphere: to intensify our trade, technological exchanges, and investment co-operation,” Mr. Terentiev said.

According to him, there are also prospects in the sphere of science and high technologies. It is important to develop humanitarian liaisons, including in the field of tourism. “There is great interest in our achievements in the field of healthcare,” the Ambassador stressed.

“All these areas will be considered during the upcoming talks [of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in Oman],” Mr. Terentiev noted.

What is Oman interesting for Belarus? The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission pointed out that this country is a gateway to other regions. “The Omani Empire included East Africa, and a large number of Omanis still have relations with East Africa. This will help us enter that region more actively as well,” the Ambassador explained.

“Yemen, Somalia, India – all these countries have very good relations with Oman. Omani merchants feel very good in those markets, and they are ready to give us a shoulder and support. They are interested and see the benefit in going to these markets together with Belarusian producers. We should use this opportunity,” the diplomat is convinced. “We are already trying to work with the Omanis in this area. I think that after Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Muscat we will define concrete steps in this area.”
