Aleinik and Zimbabwe’s FM discussed Belarus' participation in African Vision 2030 programme

Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik held a meeting in Harare with Zimbabwe's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Frederick Shava, reports, citing the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs


The ministers thoroughly discussed the implementation progress of the agreements reached during the state visit of Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Zimbabwe, as well as the results of the work carried out throughout the year by the relevant subgroups on political, economic and social issues.   

“They emphasised significant progress in bilateral trade and economic co-operation, moving towards the implementation of joint applied projects in industry, agriculture, healthcare and education. Belarus and Zimbabwe place special emphasis on strengthening co-operative interaction, involving Belarusian exporters and producers in implementing Zimbabwe Vision 2030 development programme. Specific steps to expand the contractual and legal framework of bilateral relations were outlined,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. 


It is noted that during the meeting, views were exchanged on current topics of the international agenda, as well as on global and regional security issues.

“The mutual desire to support each other on international platforms, strengthening the co-operation of regional integration associations, of which Belarus and Zimbabwe are members was emphasised. Sergei Aleinik expressed the readiness of the Belarusian side to assist in expanding Zimbabwe's ties within the prospective Eurasian Economic Union market, as well as interest in utilising the advantages of Zimbabwe's chairmanship in the Southern African Development Community (SADC),” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
