Agriculture and Food Ministry: Belarus to produce 9m tonnes of milk in 2025
Belarus is steadily increasing milk production and setting ambitious goals for the next decade – as stated by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits at the opening of the 11th Dairy Belarus international forum, sb.by reports
According to Mr. Yakovchits, the 2025 results are already predictable in the dairy industry: in January-September, production increased by 4.8 percent, and the figure is likely to exceed 5 percent by the end of the year. “We already understand how this year will finish with regard to milk production: there are grounds to believe that it will make 9m tonnes,” he said.
At the same time, Mr. Yakovchits outlined long-term challenges, noting that the key task that needs to be solved today is the industry development strategy for the next decade, “The main issue it to outline what we will produce and where we will sell our products in ten years. The Agriculture and Food Ministry has formed a strategic plan for each enterprise for the coming decade. We also need to understand why these products should be bought from us.”
As noted by the Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister, the Dairy Belarus forum is an important platform for industry professionals, as it allows them to agree on approaches along the way of further development.
