Agreement on legal assistance provision within CSTO framework entered into force

The agreement on jurisdiction and legal assistance in cases of temporary stay of formations of the collective security system on the territories of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation member states – signed by the CSTO Collective Security Council members on September 16th, 2021 in Dushanbe – has entered into force, the organisation’s website reports

It is noted that, on the basis of the document, co-operation will be carried out between the competent authorities of the CSTO member states, including military police, military investigation, military prosecutor's office, military courts (tribunals) – in criminal and administrative cases against persons who are part of formations of forces and means of the collective security system.

It is also reported that the international treaty was earlier ratified in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Russia. The document entered into force for the abovementioned countries on March 24th, 2023.
