Activities of fugitives in 2020-2021 were merely business, expert asserts
The activities of the self-exiled opposition in Belarus in 2020-2021 were merely business – as stated by Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies, in his talk with ONT TV channel
“For the fugitives, the activities they were engaged in 2020-2021 are purely business. It is clear that their ‘velvet revolution’ in Belarus has failed, so now they need to justify their value and significance again. Naturally, [the fugitives] will try to sell to western funds their readiness to form various nationalist units and subsequently launch them in Belarus. It must be understood that nationalist units are not walking with flowers and flags along the streets but carrying out terrorist attacks against civilians and infrastructure facilities. In fact, this is the creation of a situation where peaceful life is violated and destroyed. We must not allow this on our territory,” the expert drew attention.
In order to maintain peace and tranquillity in the country, it is necessary to learn lessons, including from modern history, to independently settle all issues and not be guided by someone. Then neither the newcomers nor the fugitives will have a chance to sow chaos, no matter how much western money is injected.
