Priyanca Radhakrishnan, New Zealand’s Associate Minister for Social Development, said that at least 1.2 thousand teenagers asked for support. “They told us they need support to deal with early experiences of love and hurt, and breakups were identified as a common challenge,” she added.

According to RNZ radio, the part of the company under the Own the Feels slogan includes a special telephone, a text or an electronic helpline for young people experiencing breakups.

"This is an authentic way to inspire others to build their own strength, self-worth and resilience,” Ms. Radhakrishnan said.
