As Mikhail Orda, delegation leader and first secretary of Central Committee of Republican youth union, said, it was one of the most large-scale forums throughout history of the Festival. Belarusian delegation was comprised of sportsmen, creative young people, leaders of youth associations, students and reporters. The motto of the Festival was "For peace, solidarity, against imperialism and war", the objective of the forum was discussion of global youth problems and establishment of close international links.
The first World Festival of world′s progressive youth took place in Prague in 1947. It gathered 17 thousand youngsters from 71 countries. The slogan of the first festival has been uniting youth and students of the globe for sixty years already. Later Prague was followed by Moscow, Budapest, Berlin, Helsinki, Warsaw, Havana and other cities.
