Brest Fortress to be screened in Paris during events dedicated to 70th anniversary of Victory

With subtitles in French

On behalf of the ambassadors of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan accredited in the French Republic, the Belarusian Ambassador to France, H.E. Mr. Pavel Latushko, has conveyed a letter to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Addressed to Minister Laurent Fabius, it invites him to attend 70th anniversary commemorations of the Great Patriotic War Victory (WW2).

The letter was presented as Mr. Latushko met the Director of the Department for Continental Europe, at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eric Fournier. The ambassadors have invited the French authorities to take part in events being organised in France by the embassies of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

A screening of the film Brest Fortress, with French subtitles, is planned in Paris, and wreaths are to be laid at various sites: a cemetery of Soviet soldiers in the city of Noyers-Saint-Martin (Oise, Picardie); at memorials to Normandie-Niemen Regiment pilots in Le Bourget; and at the monument to Soviet members of the French Resistance, located at the Parisian cemetery of Pere-Lachaise.

On behalf of the abovementioned diplomatic missions, the Belarusian Embassy will hold a reception for French authorities, diplomats and the public. A new exhibition is also to open at the Le Bourget Air and Space Museum, commemorating the Normandie-Niemen Regiment.
