Brest hosts final match of Belarusian Football Cup, with trophy fought for by Borisov BATE and Zhodino Torpedo-BelAZ

Cup won by the strongest

The final match, hosted by Brest Stadium, ended with a 0:0 draw, although both teams had enjoyed the chance to score, avoiding additional time and the penalty shoot out.

Torpedo-BelAZ’s goalkeeper, Valery Fomichev, was a true hero, saving three of BATE’s kicks, and allowing Zhodino to win the Belarusian Cup for the first time. It now goes through to the European League. BATE and Torpedo-BelAZ last met at the Belarusian Football Cup finals in 2010, with the Zhodino team losing 0:5.
