Victoria Azarenko arrives in Doha for Open Championship of Qatar with new coach
With the departure of former coach Sam Sumyk, Belarus’ top tennis player, Victoria Azarenko, welcomes Belgian Wim Fissette, aged 34. From 2009 to 2011, the well-known figure worked with famous Kim Clijsters, helping her regain form after having a baby. She went on to win major tournaments in Miami and Cincinnati, as well as the US Open.
Fisette coached Irina Khromacheva until May 2013, helping her climb to the top of the junior world rating and from 350th place to 160th in the WTA adult rating. The Belgian has also worked with Sabine Lisicki and Simona Halep. It is hoped that Fissette’s flair will help Victoria Azarenko return to the top of the World Tennis Rating.
