Collection of 17 medals claimed by Belarusian gymnasts, from European Championship in Portugal

The European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championship and the European Championships in Acrobatic Gymnastics (European Age Group Games), held in the Portuguese city of Odivelas, gathered more than 300 gymnasts from 17 countries. Impressively, our squad has brought home an impressive total of 17 medals: 1 gold, 4 silver and 12 bronze.

The best result among experienced acrobats was shown by the men’s quartet of Kirill Shatov, Eduard Volchetsky, Kirill Zhdanovich and Artem Khvalko, winning silver for two disciplines (balance and all-round), and bronze in dynamics (tempo). Men’s duo Ilya Rybinsky and Yevgeny Novikov won bronze awards in all three disciplines at the Championship.

Women’s duo Margarita Bartashevich and Victoria Mikhnovich claimed a silver medal for their dynamics routine while trio Anna Kobyzeva, Yulia Kovalenko and Yulia Khripach won bronze for balance.

The six adult medals were supplemented by junior duo Marina Samkevich and Darya Nesterchuk’s gold for the balance, as well as bronze in the all-round. Meanwhile, Yekaterina Borisevich, Veronika Nabokina and Karina Sandovich took silver for the balance and came third in the all-round. The men’s junior duo of Vladislav Sablevsky and Dmitry Lilenko, and the junior quartet of Yevgeny Medvedev, Andrey Yermilov, Dmitry Liptsev and Yevgeny Kashin brought home two bronze medals each (balance and all-round and balance and dynamics respectively).

Junior gymnasts Yelizaveta Smal, Valeria Boldyreva and Angelina Marchuk were awarded bronze in the youngest group (12-18 years).
