Belarus’ national football team rose from 106th to 101st place in an update by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) of the rating of world teams and at present has 331 points


Since making the FIFA international team ratings list, the national team of Belarus has held two official matches. In the qualifying round of the European championships to be held 2016, in an away match, Belarusians conceded to Spain 0:3, and in a home friendly match at the Borisov Arena we defeated the Mexican team 3:2.

There are no further official games on the team calendar until the end of the year. In total, the national team has played nine matches during this season, and has won three victories, drawn two matches and suffered four defeats. The team began the season under the direction of Georgy Kondratiev who retired after a failed start in the European qualifying tournament. In qualifying group C of the championship, Belarusians drew their first game away in Luxembourg 1:1, this was followed by three successive defeats: at home to Ukraine 0:2, to Slovakia 1:3 and in an away match with Spain 0:3. In the meeting with the Spaniards, the team’s was led by Andrey Zygmantovich, acting head coach, who was previously Kondratiev’s assistant. It is expected that the Belarus Football Association will shortly announce the name of the new national team coach. The team will continue to play in the qualifying tournament for EURO-2016 in Macedonia where they will play their next match on March 27th 2015. After four matches, the state of play in group C is: Slovakia in the lead with 12 points, Spain and Ukraine next with 9 each, Macedonia third on 3 points and Belarus with Luxemburg at the bottom of the table with 1 point each.

As far as overall FIFA ratings go, the other teams competing with Belarus in group C have points as follows; Spain 1,142 points, Slovakia 891, Ukraine 854, Macedonia 324, Luxembourg 230.
