Belarus’ first seed, Victoria Azarenko, returns to fifth place in World Tennis Association ranking, published on May 16th

26 year old tennis player, who unsuccessfully performed at the tournament in Rome losing to Romanian Irina Camelia-Begu (3:6, 2:6) in the first match, managed to raise up one position in the ranking. It should be mentioned that previously Azarenko has pulled out of the tournament in Madrid because of back injury. After her meeting with Begu Victoria noted that she had problems with uncured injury, preventing her from straining every sinew during the match.

American Serena Williams continues to top the WTA ranking while Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska pressed German Angelique Kerber from the second position.
