Six Belarusian banks have improved their positions in the RIA Rating’s Top 200 CIS Banks ranking

Nine Belarusian banks are included in the RIA ranking. These are Belarusbank, Belinvestbank, Belgazprombank, VTB, Alfa-Bank, Priorbank, Belagroprombank, BPS-Sberbank and BelVEB. Belarus’ largest bank Belarusbank kept its 14th position in the ranking. Belinvestbank moved up from the 77th to 75th position, BelVEB — from 95th to 81st, Belgazprombank — from 103rd position to 90th, Priorbank — from 108th to 106th, VTB — from 154th position to 153rd, Alfa-Bank — from 197th to 159th.

The positions of two Belarusian banks worsened. Belagroprombank moved down from 34th position to 37th, BPS-Sberbank — from 49th to 53rd.

There are about 1,000 banks in the CIS countries. Russian banks account for 58 percent of those included in the ranking, Kazakhstani banks — 9.5 percent, Ukrainian banks — 8.5 percent, Uzbek banks — 5.5 percent, Belarusian banks — 4.5 percent.
