Belarusian national teams fail to qualify for European Table Tennis Championship semi-finals, hosted by Lisbon

In the quarterfinals, the men’s team was losing 0:2 to Croatia, following defeat by Vladimir Samsonov and Pavel Platonov; however, Yevgeny Shchetinin and Samsonov managed to equalise the

score, to 2:2. In the fifth, decisive, meeting, Pavel Platonov showed tough resistance to Croatian team leader Andrej Gaćina, yet lost 1:3. As a result, the men’s team lost to Croatia — 2:3.

The women’s team of Victoria Pavlovich, Alexandra Privalova and Yelena Dubkova lost 0:3 in the match against Poland, aiming to reach the semi-final. At the preliminary stage of the continental team tournament, the national team of Belarus defeated its rivals from Ukraine and the Czech Republic — both 3:1, before losing with the same result to the Swedish squad, taking second place in Group D.
