Plans for co-operation in sport have been discussed at a meeting between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the South African Republic, Andrey Molchan, and the leadership of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) — Secretary General Tubby Reddy, and the member of the SASCOC Board and of the International Olympic Committee, Sam Ramsamy

The SASCOC representatives expressed interest in establishing direct co-operation between the National Olympic Committee of Belarus (NOC) and SASCOC. It was noted during the meeting that close interaction between Belarus and the RSA in sport would bring mutual benefits and could be developed across a range of areas. Thus, taking into account different climates, it promises to use the infrastructure of Belarus and the RSA to train athletes from the two countries and to exchange experiences and coaches in various sports disciplines. The parties expressed a readiness to send national teams to sporting events held in both countries.

The parties also emphasised that constructive collaboration within the International Olympic Committee and the Association of National Olympic Committees is an important aspect in bilateral sport co-operation. The sides agreed to look into the issue of signing an agreement on co-operation between the National Olympic Committee and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee.
