Brest Meshkov HC suffers most offensive defeat from French Paris Saint-Germain in fourth round of Champions League Group Stage — 28:29

Three minutes before the final whistle, the Brest handballers were one point ahead and looked set to snatch victory. Sadly, their opponent swooped in to score repeatedly, resulting in an unexpected defeat. In the previous home match, the Belarusian handballers were also defeated by a negligible amount, at the hands of another favourite in the six-member group: German Kiel. The next match will be held at home on November 15th, against Croatian Zagreb.

Before the fifth round, Group A stands as follows: Paris Saint-Germain (8 points), Kiel (6), Zagred and Spanish Logroño (each 4), Brest Meshkov (2), and Macedonian Metalurg (zero). The top four clubs from each of the four subgroups will qualify for the Champions League knock-out round.
In the EHF Cup, Minsk SKA lost its return away match to Polish Gornik — 30:33. However, their home victory (34:30) took Spartak Mironovich’s squad into the third round. In the first match of the second round of the Cup Winners’ Cup, Minsk’s BNTU-BelAZ women’s team defeated Lithuanian Žalgiris — 32:20 — at home. Meanwhile, the Gomel team lost to Turkish Ankara in an away match in the second EHF Cup round — 22:33.
