The national ice hockey team of Poland is the third opponent to be faced by the Belarusian squad during qualification rounds for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. The Poles recently defeated Hungary in a series of penalty shoot-outs, with the score finishing 0:0, even after overtime.
Belarus will also battle Slovenia and Denmark, with matches held in Minsk from September 1st-4th; the winner will receive a place at the Olympiad. Other quartets include Latvia, Germany, Austria and Japan, as well as Norway, France, Kazakhstan and Italy.
