Modernisation and investments and an effective economy and competitive assortment; these and other production themes were recently the centre of attention of the Head of the Presidential Administration, Andrei Kobyakov when he visited two enterprises of the Mogilev Region — Protos Ltd. in the Mogilev Region and Mogilevkhimvolokno JSC

Interest in Protos is not casual. It is a private enterprise which appeared in an empty place 22 years ago and today is one of the largest metalworking manufacturers in the country. The finishing works are carried out here before the opening of one more industrial subdivision of the factory, which will produce metal bridge constructions. In Belarus, there are no analogues to such manufacture. The shop is equipped with the most advanced equipment, and Andrei Kobyakov familiarised himself with its work and everything visible is impressive. On one of machine tools, the cutting of thick metal sheets  is carried out with plasma, where it is possible to not only cut piece of iron into specific shapes, but also to make the holes for the necessary configuration.

The Director of Protos Ltd., Nikolay Sysa, notes, “We have three primary goals for the near future. That is the manufacture of metal bridge constructions, and we have already come close to such production. Besides, we are going to produce lighting masts and steel high-capacity tanks for the storage of oil products. Such production is not currently made in the country and it will be our contribution to import substitution.”

In Mogilevkhimvolokno JSC, Andrei Kobyakov examined what is the return from already realised investment projects. It is necessary to say that the effect is quite good. Non-woven materials, which are produced at the enterprise, are in demand among manufacturers of linoleum and rolled roofing material. Feeling the demand of the market, the company have decided to buy one more installation for the manufacture of this production. Now, workers prepare the place for this equipment. It is also planned to establish the production of hygienic napkins, but all these manufactures are secondary. The enterprise, which is 45 years old, uses out-of-date technology for the production of synthetic fibre and it is necessary to change it — but how? Initially, the Chinese side was going to participate in the investment project; however it was then found out that the cost of the equipment is higher than expected, and its quality leaves much to be desired. Therefore, it was needed to refuse the co-operation of the potential partners.

The Director General of Mogilevkhimvolokno JSC, Sergey Puzevich, says that in October they will start negotiations with suppliers of new equipment. However, he prefers not to talk about the details or the financing sources.

Summing up the results of the trip to the Mogilev Region, Andrei Kobyakov noticed that both enterprises will achieve the expected result. Everything required is available for this purpose — the personnel, the desire and the motivation.
