Belarusian national team discovers its rivals in Davis Cup and Fed Cup

The men’s squad recently defeated Moldova in the second round of Group II, within the Euro-African Zone of the Davis Cup. They are next to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Minsk in April. While Vladimir Ignatik and Max Mirny crushed their Moldovan opponents, the Bosnian team were playing no less confidently, defeating Turkey in Ankara, with a score of 3:1. The leader of the Bosnian squad, Amer Delic, is seeded 193rd worldwide and, in the Davis Cup, the Bosnian team is positioned 44th; Belarus is 51st.

After defeat by the USA, our women’s squad is next to play Switzerland, fighting for its place in the Fed Cup World Group II. In the first round, Switzerland lost to Australia 1:4. The team comprised Stefanie Voegele (WTA’s 126th seed), Amra Sadikovic (220), Timea Bacsinszky (247), and Belinda Bencic (1055). In the Cup rankings, Belarus is placed 18th while the Swiss team is in 14th position.
