Dinamo Minsk captain Alexey Kalyuzhny celebrates 1,070th match (in Russian championship and KHL) with team success

Alexey KalyuzhnyHaving outplayed its opponent in the away match, hosted in the Latvian capital, Dinamo Minsk defeated its long-term rival from Riga (3:1): thus breaking a series of three consecutive defeats of the team and strengthening its position in the top-eight in the KHL Western Conference. Alexey Kalyuzhny performed well, making a successful and exact pass to Artur Gavrus who hit the net.

Alexey suffered some criticism for failing to turn a penalty shot into a goal in the quarterfinal of the World Championship. He later underwent hip surgery in Italy, leading to time out from training. However, on his return, he showed at once that he was back on form, playing to his usual high level. Alexey Kalyuzhny, as captain and a leading player, spends a lot of time on the ice (on average, 17 and a half minutes every game). At the same time, he is one of the few Dinamo players without a negative ‘plus/minus’ balance. This season, the highly experienced forward has, so far, only assisted others in scoring, but we can feel sure that it won’t be long before his own pucks will hit the back of the net.
