The hosts defeated Bosnian Borac, from Banja-Luka, at Brest’s Victoria Sports Complex 31:27. Meshkov Brest was playing in this international league for the third time, having reached the SEHA League final last year, under Croatian coach Željko Babić. Sadly, they lost to Macedonian Vardar from Skopje 27:29.

The first SEHA League match was rather a rehearsal for the Brest team, before the qualifying tournament for the Champions League Group Stage. On September 6th, the squad will face Dutch Targos Bevo, at Brest’s Victoria Sports Complex and, if victorious, will then play with the winner of the match between Serbian Vojvodina and Slovak’s Tatran Presov, on September 7th.

The best team of the group will later go through to Champions League Group A, facing Ge
rman Kiel, French Paris Saint-Germain, Macedonian Metalurg from Skopje, Croatian Zagreb and Spanish Naturhouse La Rioja (Logroño).
