In Polotsk, in 2010, a portrait created by Ivan Khrutsky was found in the archive of Polotsk’s National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, within a collection of works by Khrutsky’s great granddaughter, Yadviga Matseyevskaya. On the Day of Museums, the picture went on display, following analysis and restoration.

Museums across Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland host over a hundred canvases by Ivan Khrutsky, who was a prominent Belarusian portrait painter, and a master of still-life and landscape works. Born in the Vitebsk Province in 1810, the 200th anniversary of his birth was registered on UNESCO’s Calendar of Memorable Dates.
