Iraqi Kurdistan considering importing Belarusian animal husbandry products, notes Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Autonomy of the Republic of Iraq, Abdulstar Majeed, during his visit to Minsk

“Belarus has put forth several proposals regarding possible avenues of co-operation in the area of agriculture,” noted the Minister. In particular, the import of Belarusian animal husbandry products, including poultry and cattle meat, is under consideration.

“We’ve also reached an agreement to allocate about 1,000 hectares of land, for Belarus to create an agricultural enterprise growing cereals and corn,” said Abdulstar Majeed. This proposal has been already approved by the Kurdish side.

Belarusian universities, in particular those specialising in agriculture, are ready to welcome students from Kurdistan. “We’ll consider this issue, taking into account the language of instruction,” said Mr. Majeed. “If it is English, then our students are ready. If it is Russian, then it will be necessary to organise additional language studies.”

The heads of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Autonomy of the Republic of Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding and co-operation in the area of agriculture and water resources.
