Belarus’ national ice hockey team finishes series of friendly meetings before launch of 2015 IIHF World Championship, held in the Czech Republic

Belarusians stronger on Chizhovka-Arena ice

Under coach Dave Lewis, the team recently played two matches against Norway for the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge, winning the first match 5:1, at Chizhovka-Arena, and losing the second 2:3, at Soligorsk’s sports and entertainment facility.

Before the Soligorsk match, Dave Lewis made few changes to the line-up, showing that he’s happy with the team’s structure. Kevin Lalande held goal for both games and Mr. Lewis made known that he’s pleased with the squad’s current performance and level of fitness.

The 2015 IIHF World Championship launches on May 1st, following the Euro Challenge, in which the Belarusian squad beat Latvia 2:1, at home, but then conceded 0:1. Sadly, the national team lost both its matches against Denmark, played away, 1:3 and 1:6. It defeated Slovakia, away, 5:4 (on penalties) but then lost 2:5 on the return game.

Belarus will enter the 2015 World Championship by playing the national team of Slovenia, on May 2nd.
