Solar energy park built near Bragin

Its nominal capacity reaches 18.48MW — record figures for Belarusian solar stations — enough to switch on the whole evening lights of Minsk. Each hour it operates will enable the country to save 7,000 cubic metres of natural gas.

The solar power station was completed four months earlier than planned in an effort to take advantage of as many sunny days as possible. The choice of site was no accident either.

It’s expected that the park will inspire new life into regions that have suffered from the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and will become an example of how contaminated lands can be used in commercial activity and bring benefit to the local economy. The project is worth 24m Euros. Moreover, a high-voltage power transmission line was also constructed, stretching for 4.5km and having 22 supports and transformers, uniting the solar power station with the Bragin sub-station.
