National Academy of Sciences’ Sociology Institute plans to research cultural code of Belarusian society

“This year we intend to focus on the ‘cultural civilisation code’ of Belarusian society. This code is much talked about in the world. Unfortunately, in Belarus the issue has not often been the subject of debate. We would like to study it at both the fundamental and applied levels,” noted Prof. Igor Kotlyarov, Doctor of Sociological Sciences and Director of the NASB Institute of Sociology.

The sociologist added that in the Belarusian state, “We are confidently moving forward but we have national and cultural traits which we tend not to talk about. If we explore these aspects in more detail, study them at all levels, then we will be able to use this for the further development of both state and society” asserted Mr. Kotlyarov.

The Director of the NASB Institute of Sociology and his colleagues presented the book Belarus on the Way to the Future: the Sociological Dimension and the national scientific cluster to study the social and political situation. Mr. Kotlyarov explained that the book presents the results of the study regarding how the Belarusians see their country over the last 15 to 20 years.
