Seeking treasures of Radziwill family in Nesvizh

In the autumn of 1939, some days before the coming of the Red Army to Nesvizh, the last owner of the castle, Leon Radziwill, hid the family jewels secretly, under the cover of night: as revealed over 75 years later, by his granddaughter, Diana Radziwill-Carabba.

Visiting the museum-reserve this summer, Diana revealed the family secret, much to the interest of experts from the Institute of History at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Explorations are now beginning, in hope of recovering the priceless treasures. Tourists will be able to follow the search around the estate at Nesvizh, which is now on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The site boasts not only a beautiful palace but underground vaults and crypts.
